Funcom has put out Chapter 3 for Dune Awakening today. This update brings lots of new things and changes to how the game plays. But can this update, called the “biggest” the game has ever had, make people excited again like they were when it first started?
Let’s look at what’s new in Chapter 3. You can now level up your factions more. If you finish missions with your chosen group, you can get more levels. The Landsraad endgame has also been changed. Players can now pick a Great House to do missions for, which should make this part of the game more interesting.
There’s also a new specialization system. When you earn experience points, you move up in a specialization you choose. This lets players pick how they want to play and focus on that style. Explorers can pick a path and get rewards that help with that style, like special traits and technologies.
These technologies include augmentations. You can add these to level 6 armor to make it even stronger. You can find blueprints for these in new Testing Stations that were added to the game. Players can trade this upgraded gear with each other, which encourages more interaction between players who are following different paths to get stronger. But you need to work on the crafting specialization to make these.

There are also new missions to do, new places to find on the Overland map, and you no longer need water and fuel when traveling across the Overland map. There are five new challenge spots for players to test their skills and work through Landsraad challenges. There are also five new Testing Stations to explore, and a new big story chapter for players who like stories.
For fighting, two new weapons have been added: the Pyrorocket and two knives at once. The rapier, which was already in the game, has been completely redone with new attacks and ways to defend yourself.
Finally, for people who stopped playing and found their base taxed to nothing, these base taxes have been completely removed. You still need power for your bases to keep your digital home safe, but you won’t lose money anymore. There are new cosmetic rewards too, and a package for returning players to help them get back into the game.
The deep desert has also been changed again. The shield wall has been moved further up to make the first parts safer to explore. Ramps have been added to make it easier to travel with ground vehicles.
Is this enough to make you want to play Dune Awakening again? Let us know!
