Older Adults Join Young Players in Street Fighter 6 Tournament

A company that helps older adults in France is organizing a Street Fighter 6 video game tournament. They’re teaming up seniors with younger people to compete. The winners get to travel to Evo France in October.

Video games are for everyone, no matter your age. One group in France is showing that even older adults can learn to play fighting games well.

Domitys is a big company in Europe that helps seniors live comfortably. They have places in France, Belgium, and Italy, and they’re even expanding to Asia. Their main offices are in France, where they run 250 centers for older adults.

Four of these centers are taking part in a special fighting game tournament. The prize is a big trip to France.

Seniors Compete in Street Fighter 6 Tournament

This tournament is called the ‘Domitys Cup.’ It brings together teams of two people: one young person (18-30 years old) and one senior (60+ years old).

Young players can sign up and be paired with someone from the senior center. Or, they can join with their parents or grandparents if they want to compete together. The tournament wants to include everyone.

There are several local rounds happening throughout September 2025. Each round is set up so that if you lose one match, you’re out of the tournament. But teams get three chances to show their skills before being eliminated.

This is different from most fighting game tournaments, where players usually get more chances.

The tournament ends with a ‘national final’ at Evo France on October 10, 2025. This final round uses a best-of-five format, meaning teams need to win three matches to advance. The winning team gets their travel and hotel costs paid for.

So far, they haven’t announced what other prizes there might be for the winners. But the whole tournament will be shown on Kayane’s YouTube channel. Kayane is a professional female gamer from France who is very good at fighting games.

She has even made simple tutorial videos on YouTube to help the senior players learn how to play the game.

Both Kayane and Domitys are talking about the tournament on social media. They’re sharing photos and videos of the seniors practicing with their younger partners.

‘No more joking around in Montpellier,’ the company wrote on social media. ‘As the local final gets closer, the seniors are working hard and starting to learn special moves!’

‘I can see they’re practicing a lot,’ Kayane responded. ‘I’m really excited to see what they can do in the next few weeks!’

This isn’t the first time older adults have had their own fighting game tournament. In July 2025, a nursing home in Japan held a special tournament just for seniors. The winner was a woman named Yoshie who used a character called Panda to beat her opponent, who was playing as a character named King.
