New Proof Shows Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake Is Coming

More proof has shown that Ubisoft is working on a remake of the popular pirate game Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. This time, the evidence comes from an official art book that will be released this March.

People first started talking about a Black Flag remake back in 2023. At that time, it was said that the well-loved 2013 pirate game was being redone by Ubisoft Singapore, the same team that made Skull and Bones. The project was said to be at least a few years away from being finished.

Since then, more and more proof has shown the remake is real, even though Ubisoft hasn’t said anything about it. For example, last year actor Matt Ryan, who played the main character Edward Kenway in Black Flag, hinted that the remake was almost ready. But then Ubisoft threatened to take legal action against him for saying too much.

Then in December, something called Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced appeared on the PEGI website for a short time. It was rated 18 for violence, bad language, and in-game purchases. But that wasn’t all. In January, a suspicious collectible figure of Black Flag’s Edward Kenway sitting on a treasure chest was leaked. This seemed to back up what statue maker PureArts had said earlier – that something Black Flag-related was happening. We’ve also seen Black Flag sea shanties officially put on YouTube, which Ubisoft later said was due to ‘technical issues’. Even Ubisoft’s social media team made a post that seemed to almost acknowledge the remake.

And now, a Black Flag art book can be added to all this proof. As noticed by IGN, the book (called Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remaster – Art Book) was recently added to Amazon UK. It costs £39.99 (on sale for £29.95) and is set to come out on March 24, 2026. Titan, a company that has made many official Assassin’s Creed art books over the years, is listed as the publisher.

If the Black Flag art book is real, its release date would match the original time frame for Ubisoft’s mysterious ‘unannounced game’ – a title that many people believe is the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake. However, as part of a big company change announced in January, Ubisoft pushed this game – along with six other games – into the next financial year starting April 2026. They said this was to make sure the games meet high quality standards.

That big change also saw the cancellation of seven games, including Ubisoft’s long-troubled Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake. Two studios were closed, several others were reorganized, and workers were told to come back to the office. This week, 1,200 Ubisoft workers started a three-day strike to protest the company’s recent decisions.
