Understanding ‘Flaws’ in Outer Worlds 2: Good and Bad Sides

The game Outer Worlds 2 is always watching how you play. It looks at what you do a lot, and if you keep doing the same things, it might offer you a ‘flaw’. Think of a flaw as a special trait that has a good side and a bad side. You get to choose if you want to take these flaws, but some of them can really help certain ways of playing the game.

Bad Knees

You move 50% faster when you are crouching.

When you crouch, it makes noise that can be heard 10 meters away.

Spend a lot of time crouching.

Consumerism

Things cost 15% less when you buy from shops.

You sell things for 10% less money.

Buy the special version of the game.

Dangerously Curious

You get double the experience points when you hack.

You need one more ‘Bypass Shunt’ item to hack things.

Hack a lot of computer terminals.

Dependent

You do 25% more damage to enemies that your friends have already hurt.

You do 10% less damage overall.

Let your friends take a lot of damage in fights.

Drug Addiction

The Medical Inhaler gives you 40% less ‘toxicity’ (bad effects).

The Medical Inhaler heals you for 20% less health.

Use the Medical Inhaler many times.

Easily Distracted

You get one extra skill point each time you level up.

You can only add skill points to your lowest skill that isn’t zero.

Spread your skill points out across many different skills.

Easily Startled

Your footsteps are 25% quieter, and enemies notice you less.

If an enemy spots you, your defense and ability to dodge are gone for 8 seconds.

Get spotted by enemies often, then quickly crouch and hide.

Energy Hog

You have 50 more points for your gadget energy.

Your gadget energy recharges 25% slower.

Use your gadgets a lot.

Flawed

You get an extra ‘perk point’ every 5 levels for each flaw you have.

You must accept any flaws the game offers you.

Accept at least two flaws.

Foot-in-Mouth Syndrome

You get 15% more experience points from everything.

When you talk to people, the game will sometimes pick what you say for you.

Skip through conversations quickly.

Gluttony

Food heals you for 15% more health.

You move 10% slower when you are fighting.

Eat a lot of food.

Hermit

You have a 25% better chance to get double items when you break things down.

Things cost 50% more when you buy from shops.

Break down many items without going to shops.

Kleptomania

You get double the money when you sell things to shops.

You will sometimes automatically steal things that are close to you.

Steal a lot of items.

N-Radiated

You can hide yourself (camouflage) for 30 seconds.

When you get hit, there’s a 5% chance you’ll camouflage, but you also lose 5% of your total health.

Finish the ‘N-Ray Range’ mission.

Overprepared

Your gun magazines hold 50% more bullets.

If your gun runs out of bullets, you do 40% less damage for 8 seconds.

Reload your gun many times even when it’s not empty.

Reckless Leadership

If one of your friends gets knocked out, your other friend gets all their health back.

You cannot bring your knocked-out friends back to life during a fight.

Don’t bring your knocked-out friends back to life very often.

Technophobia

You do 20% more damage to robots (automechanicals).

Robots (automechanicals) do 20% more damage to you.

Fight a lot of robots (automechanicals).

Teetotaler

The Medical Inhaler heals you for 25% more health.

The Medical Inhaler gives you 25% more ‘toxicity’ (bad effects).

Try to avoid getting too much ‘toxicity’ from the Medical Inhaler.

Treacherous

Enemies forget about you 50% faster, and your sneak attacks do double damage.

You have 25% less total health.

Do a lot of sneak attacks.

Sungazer

You slowly heal up to half of your total health during the day.

Your eyesight is permanently damaged, and your gun shots spread out 100% more.

Stare at the sun.
