ImperialHal Having “Most Fun in a Long Time” After Apex Legends Season 28 Update
Phillip “ImperialHal” Dosen, widely considered one of the best Apex Legends players ever, has shared his excitement about the recent Season 28 update. He specifically pointed out the changes made to the character Octane, stating that they have made the game the most enjoyable for him in quite some time.
Season 28 brought many significant updates to Apex Legends. These included major overhauls for some characters, like Octane, along with adjustments to weapons and the introduction of a new system called Hardlight Mesh, among other things.
ImperialHal posted on X (formerly Twitter) on February 16th, expressing his positive feelings about the current state of Octane. He wrote that playing the character now might be “the most fun I’ve had in Apex in a long time.” This comment quickly got people talking in the professional gaming community, with many players discussing whether Octane is now a top-tier choice again.
Considering ImperialHal’s reputation in the Apex Legends world, his opinion carries a lot of weight. He has been a key figure in the game since it first came out. He became famous as the leader for the team TSM, winning many championships before moving to Team Falcons.
What Changed for Octane?
According to the official notes for the Season 28 update, a specific part of Octane’s ability, called Daredevil, had its maximum duration reduced. It went from lasting 6 seconds down to 3 seconds. The Daredevil ability makes your gun reload faster when you break an enemy’s shields, and your Stim ability lasts longer if your health is low.
Octane has always been a popular character because his abilities let him play very fast. His main skill, Stim, uses some of his health to give him a speed boost. His Launch Pad lets him and his teammates jump to different spots quickly, which is useful for both attacking and escaping. However, even though many players use him in regular matches and ranked games, he hasn’t often been seen as a necessary pick in the most serious professional tournaments.
ImperialHal himself hasn’t typically played Octane much over the years. He has spent much more time playing characters like Wraith, who was a common choice when his team TSM dominated early tournaments, and Horizon, especially when the game’s style favored aggressive play.
Some Players Want Octane Nerfed
While ImperialHal is enjoying Octane, not everyone is happy with how the character is performing now. Many people who replied to ImperialHal’s post mentioned that Octane feels “broken” and should be made less powerful soon. This is especially true because of his ability to move at very high speeds.
It’s still early in Season 28, so it’s unclear if the game’s developers, Respawn Entertainment, will make any changes. They usually prefer to wait and see how the game is played overall before making quick adjustments to avoid disrupting the current game style too much.
