Max Parker has joined the cast of Amazon’s upcoming television series based on the God of War video game franchise.
Parker is widely recognized for his role as Luke Posner in the popular UK soap opera Emmerdale. In the new series, he will portray Heimdall, the watchman of Asgard. This character is known for his ability to foresee events and protect the realm from threats.
Heimdall was originally introduced as an antagonist in the video game God of War Ragnarök, developed by Sony Santa Monica. As the son of Odin, he stands guard atop the walls of Asgard. He uses his special powers of foresight to detect and ward off any enemies approaching the realm.
According to reports, Parker’s version of Heimdall will be a complex character. He is described as a god who possesses the unique ability to anticipate what will happen at any moment. He is handsome and energetic, yet he often feels that his father does not appreciate him enough. He also believes the rest of his family underestimates his abilities. Because of this, he is constantly seeking ways to improve his status within the family hierarchy and increase his power.
Aside from his work on Emmerdale, Parker has built a diverse acting resume. He appeared as Mikhail Tanner in the fantasy horror series Vampire Academy. He also played Sergeant Sullivan in the Netflix military comedy drama Boots. Additionally, he has made guest appearances in the long-running science fiction series Doctor Who.
Parker is joining a growing cast for the Amazon production. Ryan Hurst, who previously played Thor in the God of War Ragnarök video game, has been cast as Kratos. Teresa Palmer will play Sif, the wife of Thor. The series is a joint effort between Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios.
The creative team behind the camera is also highly experienced. Ronald D. Moore, a former executive producer of Battlestar Galactica, serves as the showrunner for the series. Additionally, Frederick E.O. Toye, an Emmy-winning director known for his work on Shōgun, has joined the production team.
The official description for the series explains the core story. It follows the journey of father and son Kratos and Atreus as they travel to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Throughout their adventures, Kratos attempts to teach his son how to be a better god. Meanwhile, Atreus tries to help his father learn how to be a better human being.
While a specific release date for the first season has not yet been announced, the project is moving forward with confidence. Amazon has already greenlit a second season of the God of War series, even though the writing for the first season is still in progress.
