Battlefield 6 Season 1: What’s New and What’s Coming

DICE and EA have given us more details about what’s changing in Battlefield 6 as we get closer to the start of Season 1 on October 28. They’ve shared information about the Battle Royale mode, new maps, new ways to play, and more. Here’s a breakdown of everything we know about Battlefield 6 Season 1.

Changes live now – BF6

Some small fixes have been made behind the scenes that change how the game plays. You might not have even noticed them if you play a lot. Here’s what’s been updated recently:

  • Custom Search: We’ve tweaked how the game matches players to make sure it picks the map and game mode you want more often. The system still tries to keep wait times reasonable, so if you pick something very specific, you might wait a little longer. We’ll keep an eye on how this works and make more adjustments if needed.
  • Vehicle Spawn Bug: We fixed a problem where vehicles sometimes wouldn’t show up when they were supposed to on certain maps and game modes. This fix has made that happen much less often and has helped make some map and mode combinations more balanced. We know there are still a few cases this fix didn’t cover, and we’re working on those. We also noticed this fix slightly helped players win more in Breakthrough mode, but we’re planning bigger changes to make the game even more balanced.

Upcoming changes – BF6

Lots of changes are on the way. The most important ones seem to be how players move and how that affects where your gun sights are pointing.

  • Player Movement: We’re working on making player movement feel more consistent. We want to keep the game’s speed and the way it feels from when it first came out. At the same time, we’re making aiming more stable by reducing how much your sight moves when you do certain actions. These changes should make aiming feel smoother and more accurate, while still feeling like you’re right there in the action.
  • Progression: We’re still watching how the changes we made last week are working. Things are already feeling smoother as we head into Season 1. We’re also looking at these areas:
  • XP earned in Escalation and King of the Hill modes isn’t always working right. We plan to give out a lot more XP for these modes to make them similar to others, and we’ll keep checking them after the changes go live.
  • We’ve heard your feedback about the challenges and what you need to do to complete them. The team is working on making challenges easier to understand and quicker to finish. Because there are so many challenges, these changes will come out over at least two updates. Here are some examples of what we’re thinking about:
  • Class Assignment – Assault 1 – Get kills while using the Adrenaline Injector – Changed from 30 to 3 kills.
  • Class Assignment – Engineer Expert 3 – Repair Vehicles in a Match – Changed from 6000 to 1000 repair points.
  • Weapon Assignment – Deadeye 2 – Get headshot kills over 200m with Sniper Rifles – Changed from 150 to 5 headshots.
  • Later on, we’ll also reduce the 200m distance requirement.
  • Visibility: We’re looking into changes for brightness and how things show up. This will help with times when the outside light is too bright, inside areas are too dark, or when you can’t see well when zooming in with your scope. These changes are part of a bigger effort to make everything easier to see, which we expect to finish later in Season 1.

Battle Royale Mode update – BF6

Players have been eager to hear more about Battlefield 6’s upcoming Battle Royale mode, and DICE has finally shared some new details. This mode has been in testing in Battlefield Labs since September, and now we know the direction the team is taking after those play sessions. DICE shared the following:

  • Close-range TTK: We’ve changed how quickly you can kill enemies up close with all weapons. This is to reward good positioning and aiming, and give players more time to react. We’ll keep watching this after it goes live.
  • Armor Changes: Everyone will now be able to carry 2 armor plates from the start of the game. All players will begin with 1 plate, so you can find another one right away to upgrade your armor. This gives everyone a fair chance to get fully armored.
  • World Improvements: We’ve been fixing bugs in the game world and making areas run better. With these improvements, we’ve also adjusted the lighting and made it easier to see things across the map.

Vehicle Balance: We’ve adjusted helicopters and combat vehicles to make sure they are still powerful and feel like part of Battlefield, but not so powerful that you need them to win. This includes big changes to how helicopter countermeasures and ammo work.
