The new game called Marathon, made by Bungie, is almost here. This means we’ll be hearing more about it in the coming weeks. The game is already becoming popular on Steam, which is a big online store for computer games, and more people are starting to talk about it. No matter what happens after the game officially comes out, it looks like the new way they are telling people about the game is working really well.
We’ve now found out some new things about how you can change your character’s look and what kinds of guns will be in the game. This information came from a group called Marathon HQ. It also seems that people in China who play games, share videos, and write about games were very impressed by what they saw at a recent event.
When the game first comes out, it looks like you’ll be able to pick from at least six different outfits for each character, called a Runner. Each outfit will be tied to a different group in the game. The message on X (which used to be Twitter) above shows pictures from the event and some of these early outfits. Other online multiplayer games often don’t have many choices for outfits when they first launch, so it seems Bungie is starting strong with things you can unlock.
The full list of information from the event is even more interesting. It says there will be 28 different guns available when the game launches, and each gun will have “two or more skins,” which are different looks for the guns. Some of these skins even change how the gun looks completely, so you won’t have to wait long to get some cool new designs. People also said the game looks much better than it did last year, with many saying the places you play in feel “much darker and more mysterious.”
When it comes to how the game works, it seems like the special skills and abilities you can get are pretty flexible. This means you can mix and match them to create different ways to play, which is good to remember when you’re playing with a team of other Runners. Another thing people noticed was how expensive health packs and shields were during this early look at the game. Also, playing against other human players early in the game was described as a “sure loss,” even if it’s tempting to go after them because they drop good stuff when you beat them.
The folks who like to play against computer enemies might also be surprised. It seems these computer enemies are very tough and “always call for more help” instead of just disappearing once you’ve cleared an area. On top of that, you’ll need to pay attention to your surroundings because “dangers like poison gas vents, guard towers, and hidden bombs are everywhere.”
Finally, some other small details came out about the game’s story. It will be told through “roguelike adventure” seasons. This means players will have to get stronger to handle harder and harder challenges as the story unfolds. Just a reminder, if you get killed during a mission, you’ll lose all the valuable items and gear you’ve collected.
At this point, it’s pretty clear that Marathon’s way of doing this type of shooter game, where you go in, get stuff, and try to get out, will be very different from another game called Arc Raiders. So, it will be interesting to see how these two big games do when they both come out, assuming Bungie’s new game doesn’t have a rough start.
