Earlier this week, Capcom finally shared new details about the next game in their famous horror series, Resident Evil Requiem. While players learned more about the story and gameplay, many were surprised to see that the company did not announce a special collector’s edition for the game.
Like most major game publishers, Capcom usually releases expensive, limited collector’s editions for their big titles. However, for Requiem, almost all the extra items included in the deluxe version are digital. This has led some fans to wonder if this marks the end of expensive physical collector’s editions.
With the release date just over a month away, it seems unlikely that Capcom is waiting to make an announcement. Usually, official figures included in collector’s editions are already being sold separately by other retailers. This breaks a tradition that has been in place for over ten years. Instead of a collector’s edition, Capcom revealed two large figurines of Leon and Grace. These are one-sixth-scale models and are being sold for about 150 pounds each.
If you are wondering what comes with the physical Deluxe Edition of Requiem, here is the list of items:
- A premium steelbook case that includes the game
- A limited edition lenticular card
- Digital codes for five character costumes
- Digital codes for four weapon skins
- Digital codes for two charms
- Digital codes for visual filters
- Digital code for a bonus audio pack
- Digital code for extra in-game files
There is also a Digital Deluxe Edition available, which includes the same digital items but does not come with the steelbook case or the lenticular card. Additionally, a special Requiem-styled controller for the Switch 2 is available. For Switch players, there is a bundle that includes Resident Evil 7, Village, and Requiem. Amiibo figures are also coming later this summer, and anyone who pre-orders the game will receive a bonus costume for Grace called “Apocalypse.”
A well-known leaker named Dusk Golem, who has shared correct information about games like Silent Hill 2 Remake and Resident Evil Village in the past, suggested that the issue might be related to shipping costs. They believe that getting physical items into the United States has become too expensive.
After the recent game showcase, the leaker stated that the unpredictable tariffs associated with Donald Trump might be the reason why Resident Evil Requiem does not have a collector’s edition like the previous games.
Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled to be released on February 27th. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. The director, Koshi Nakanishi, who also directed Resident Evil 7, promised that this game will offer an emotional experience unlike any other entry in the series.
Nakanishi spoke during the recent Resident Evil broadcast, where they showed more gameplay from Requiem. The footage highlighted the difference between playing as Grace and playing as Leon. Grace’s sections focus heavily on horror, while Leon’s gameplay is more action-oriented.
A writer from Eurogamer named Alex had the chance to play a portion of Resident Evil Requiem. He admitted that even the small section he played was so scary that he screamed loudly enough for people in the next room to hear him.
