The game’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, is leading this project. He is the same person who directed Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, a game that brought the series back to its scary roots. The director explained that these two characters offer very different experiences. When players control Grace, the game focuses heavily on horror. On the other hand, when players take control of Leon, the gameplay becomes more action-oriented. Leon is a skilled agent who has survived many dangerous situations. Nakanishi noted that Leon is not the best fit for traditional horror because he is brave and does not get scared easily. However, the director believes the action-heavy parts suit Leon perfectly and remind players of Resident Evil 4.

Even though Leon is tough, the game will still challenge him. The director mentioned that Requiem will likely push Leon to his absolute limit. He has been through a lot in previous games, but this new adventure will test his strength and endurance even further. Switching between these two different playstyles is meant to give players a sense of relief and excitement.

Besides the two main characters, the broadcast also showed off the enemies in the game. The zombies in Resident Evil Requiem are unique because they keep traits from their lives before they were infected. For example, one specific zombie used to be a janitor. Even after turning into a monster, this zombie is still seen cleaning the building.
