South African Esports Team Arrives in Malaysia for World Championship

The MSSA Protea Esports Team has arrived safely in Malaysia. They are there to compete in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) event. The team is making a strong statement by wearing purple uniforms. This color choice shows their support for ending Gender Based Violence back home in South Africa.

Just before the team landed, the IESF held the draw for the tournament. The teams were split into four groups. South Africa was placed in Group A. Their opponents in this group are Malaysia, Iran, and Turkiye.

Many people are calling this group the “group of death.” It is a very difficult group to play in. Team Malaysia is the defending champion. They won the MLBB event at the World Esports Championship in 2024. This means the Protea team has a very hard fight ahead of them. However, the team that wins this strong group will likely have a great chance to win the whole World Championship.

Fans in South Africa can watch all the action live. Waylander Gaming will stream all the matches. They are working with MSSA to bring the games directly from Malaysia to your screen. You can watch the Protea team play from Wednesday to Friday.

The schedule for the women’s team matches is as follows:

  • 6:30 AM SAST: South Africa vs Malaysia
  • 8:30 AM SAST: South Africa vs Iran

The schedule for the men’s team match is:

  • 10:30 AM SAST: South Africa vs Turkiye
