Xbox Players Face ‘Outdated Game Client’ Errors in Arc Raiders, Disrupting Cross-Play

If you’re trying to play Arc Raiders on an Xbox console and want to team up with friends on PC or PlayStation 5, you might run into some problems. A new update has just been released for the game, but unfortunately, Xbox versions are a bit behind. This means that right now, Xbox players can’t join parties with people playing on other systems.

Understanding the Arc Raiders “Outdated Game Client” Error

The “outdated game client” message usually means you need to update the game. However, this only works if an update is actually available for your system. Right now, Xbox consoles haven’t received the latest update, while players on PS5 and PC are already using it. This is why playing together across different platforms isn’t working at the moment.

This kind of issue can happen from time to time. Sadly, the only real fix right now is to wait for the game developers, Embark, to release a patch for your specific system. Sometimes, getting the update approved can take a little while, which can be frustrating for both the players and the developers.

Quick Fix for Arc Raiders Causes Animation Problems

This recent quick fix didn’t just stop Xbox players from joining cross-platform games; it also caused a bunch of new animation bugs for PS5 players. For example, the character’s crouch animation was replaced with a strange “T-pose” where the character stands stiffly.

It might seem a bit funny, but the developers at Embark know about these problems. They’ve already released a second update on October 31, 2025, to fix some of these issues. Hopefully, this will also get Xbox consoles working correctly with crossplay again.
