The world of Dota 2 is buzzing with excitement as three of its most famous players are returning to the competition. Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, Sébastien “Ceb” Debs, and Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen are joining forces once again. However, this time they are not playing under the usual team name. They have decided to form a new squad called “Monkey Business.” This name holds a special meaning for N0tail because it was the team he played for before he created the famous OG organization.
These three players are considered some of the greatest in the history of Dota 2. They were the core members of the OG roster that won The International tournament two years in a row back in 2018 and 2019. N0tail, in particular, is often called the greatest of all time, or GOAT, in the Dota 2 scene. Fans are thrilled to see them play together again, even though their new setup is slightly different from what they are used to seeing.
A Reunion That Almost Didn’t Happen
Originally, the trio planned to reunite earlier in the year at a tournament called Games of the Future. This event was designed to bring together retired players and popular streamers for some fun competition. However, the players decided to boycott the tournament at the last minute. They made this difficult decision because of the event’s alleged connections to the Russian government. This withdrawal was a disappointment for many loyal OG fans who were eagerly waiting to watch their heroes play.
After missing out on that tournament, the players knew they had to make it up to their supporters. To do this, they decided to create a completely new team stack. They chose to revive the old “Monkey Business” banner for their new project. This move brings the story full circle, returning to the name that started it all for N0tail before his rise to fame with OG. It marks a fresh start for the veteran players.
Meet the New Monkey Business Roster
Since retiring from full-time professional play, N0tail, Ceb, and Topson have been very active on the streaming platform Twitch. Now, they are taking their streaming activities a step further by creating what is being called a “stream team.” This means the team will likely focus on creating content and playing together publicly rather than just competing in silent, private matches. The roster includes both familiar faces and some new additions to the lineup.
The full list of players for the new Monkey Business team includes Indji “Shad” Lub, Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen, Johan “N0tail” Sundstein, Axel “Pablo” Källman, and Sébastien “Ceb” Debs. While the names are mostly known to the community, the way they will play together is changing. The most significant change is the role swap between the two OG founders. N0tail, who was famous for playing the Offlane position, will now be playing as a Hard Support. Meanwhile, Ceb, who was the team’s Offlaner, is switching over to the Hard Support role.
First Tournament and Live Streaming
The Monkey Business squad has already registered for their first competition. It is an online tournament known as the EPL Championship 1, which features a prize pool of $7,500. While this amount is very small compared to the millions of dollars they have won in the past, the prize money is not the main goal here. The team is using this tournament to test their new chemistry and provide entertainment for their audience.
What makes this tournament special is the level of transparency the players are offering. All five members of the team have been streaming their practice sessions and official matches live on their individual Twitch channels. This gives fans a rare opportunity to watch the gameplay in real-time. More importantly, viewers can listen to the communication and strategy discussions between these TI-winning players during high-pressure matches.
The team has already started their journey with a strong performance. In their very first match, they defeated a team called ALOHASQUAD with a dominant 2-0 victory. This win shows that the players still have the skills to compete at a high level. Regardless of how far they progress in the tournament, their return to the scene is already a big win for the fans who have missed watching them play together.
