Cozy Stickerville: This is My Home and Other Village Edicts
Build a village from the ground up, making decisions about where to construct and whose stories to focus on in Cozy Stickerville.
I was still in the mood for something calm and cozy at my table, so I picked up one of my newest games that had just arrived. It’s called Cozy Stickerville! The idea behind this game is pretty neat: you place stickers to build up a village and make choices that shape the lives of the people living there. I was really curious to see how it all worked, and before I knew it, I was ready to start playing!
A Little Heads-Up
Just so you know, I’ll be showing some of the game pieces from the first year. Since this game is all about surprises and having your own unique experience, I’ve tried my best not to give away too many details. However, there might be some spoilers about what you could see when you first play. Some of these things might not even show up in your first year, so you might want to skip this post if you want to be completely surprised!

Setting Up the Map
Before the first year even begins, you can place some stickers anywhere on the map. There are a few rules, but mostly you can be creative and make the area look nice!
Of course, I put my own house in the best spot, right by some trees and the river. My little cottage had a great view of everything.
I have to admit, I’m not the best with stickers. It’s hard to get them perfectly straight! But the game makes it easy to fix mistakes, which is good.
The game seemed pretty simple to learn, and I was eager to see what would happen as I played.

Rabbit Neighbors
Hello there, Calico Critters! I like to add some fun to my games by picking a family, and these rabbits fit right in. I saw a pair of them near the trees!
Being able to place stickers anywhere made it more fun. The game mostly involves making choices or using your resources for certain actions. It’s not too complicated.
With the cards for the first year, I really enjoyed getting into the stories and feeling connected to the stickers. It felt like I was building a history for this village with little moments I could remember later.
I hoped these stories would continue in the later years of the game!
Rabbit and the Carrot Patch
In a funny twist, a story came up about an animal in the local carrot patch. It was a rabbit, and it had stolen some food! The culprit was clear.
It was really nice to feel so connected to the events and to see how I could add to the stories. Even the stickers that didn’t seem super important had something to offer.
Since this was my first time playing, I took my time and enjoyed those first few moments with this unique game system. The first year was great and gave me a lot to think about as my village started to grow.

Short and Sweet Stories
Another good thing was the writing. The stories were short but still interesting. I found myself laughing, sometimes rolling my eyes, and often feeling a sense of wonder. There was so much packed into this game!
It was cool to see the beginning of what seemed like longer stories that would continue each year. I could choose to focus on them if I wanted.
Keeping track of happiness and getting titles was also a nice touch. If I was just called lucky, that felt good enough. Ha!
Looking closely at the small details was fun, and it was also nice to step back and admire where I had placed my stickers. It looked very pretty!

Cautiously Hopeful About the Coziness
The game has a very cozy feel, which I liked. But I have to admit, I’m not a big fan of stickers in board games. I like things to be perfectly lined up, and that’s not always easy with stickers! The game does let you move them around, which helps, but I still find stickers and coziness don’t always go together for me.
It also felt like a good way to learn the game’s system. There were cards that gave more options, and I hoped they wouldn’t become too much to handle. With only one action per turn, by the end of my first year, I had a lot of stickers and cards left to explore. There was nothing stopping me from playing for hours, except for time, of course!
Still, I went into it feeling cautiously optimistic. I wanted to give it a fair shot, even though I’m not fond of stickers. Maybe I could learn to go with the flow and not worry too much about small mistakes. I have a knack for getting things a little wrong, but usually, I can laugh it off. Stickers, though, can be a bit stressful for me.
A Bird’s Eye View
It was great to see how the village changed over time. The new stickers showed me exactly what was happening. Empty spaces got filled in, and existing stickers changed.
People started moving in, and I often had to make choices about who would live in a new house. That was a neat part of the game!
The different stickers also made a difference. Some matched the land, while others had a clear background. Layering them on top of each other added a lot in a way I didn’t expect!
But the deck of cards for each year is short, and my time started running out with so much more I wanted to do.

A Surprising Turn of Events
Oh my goodness! In another funny and unexpected moment, the sticker with the pair of rabbits turned into a burnt mess after something mysterious happened.
Even though the rabbits were gone from the sticker, don’t worry! This village had a place for everyone, and I figured they just moved somewhere else. Keep that in mind!
I was excited about the village and all the things I wanted to do next. There was so much to explore!
It felt a little early to make a final decision, but I really enjoyed my first time playing. On to the next years!

I did it! Well, there’s no real way to lose, but it felt good to finish the first year feeling like I’d accomplished something. The village had buildings and people, and there were lots of ideas for what could happen next. Should I try fishing, plant more flowers, or cut down trees? What building should I add next? I couldn’t wait for the next year of this growing village!

What Was Good
- Choosing which stories and stickers to use is a great way to make your village feel special and unique.
- Many choices lead to new cards or story parts that carry over to the next year, creating ongoing tales.
- The people in the village have their own stories, and you can focus on them to guide the main characters.
- Some of the writing is funny and might make you laugh, while most of it is just delightful.
- It’s wonderful to see your village grow, both in the small story moments and the overall look of the place.
- There are very few rules, so the story is the main focus, with important choices that might come back later.
What Could Be Better
- The stickers are good quality, but taking them off the pages, especially from the middle, can be a bit tricky.
- With so many things to do and only a few actions each turn, it feels like some parts might never get explored…

- There are very few rules, so the story is the main focus, with important choices that might come back later.
What Could Be Better
- The stickers are good quality, but taking them off the pages, especially from the middle, can be a bit tricky.

Session Details
How many times played: 1
Playing alone: Yes, it’s included in the main game box.
What happened: Year 1
Result: Finished
